Cardi B has a very successful music career, but despite being a celebrity, she is a mother first. In an interview with Vogue Singapore published on Monday (July 11), the hip-hop artist explained why she chose to not hire a nanny to take care of daughter Kulture, 3.
Cardi B, the popular rapper and reality TV star has confessed that before becoming a mother for the first time, many people were worried about how she could handle such a career while being a mom. Initially, Cardi’s solution was to hire a nanny to help her out with her newborn baby but this was before she realized that raising a baby is more of an art than it is a science. “Everybody kept telling me I couldn’t handle working as a successful artist and being able to mother my child properly, but I believed in what I can do,” confessed Cardi during an interview with Hypebae . "I told them all not to worry because I would have a nanny or caretaker who would travel up and down with me while I performed so there was nothing at all to worry about. It wasn’t going to be hard."
The rapper added that she tries to makes sure that she doesn’t overwhelm her parents with babysitting duties. “Your parents have already lived their life and raised their kids,” she said. “They are older and don’t have the same energy as someone in their 20s”. And as far as her hopes for Kulture, Cardi wants her daughter to simply be the best version of herself that she can be. “I want her to do amazing things when she grows up,” she said of her 3-year-old. “I want her to be smarter than me — be the better version of me.”
The 29-year-old took a brief moment to talk about her new single, “Hot S--t,” and to explain that she wanted this song to be a bit rougher around the edges. "I needed a masculine record," she says. "Sometimes, my records are very girly -- like 'WAP' is a girly anthem. 'Up' was meant to be more gangster, but people took it as girly as well. So this one, expect it to be my hiyaaaaah! record."
