Here’s When BLACKPINK Will Be Back With New Music & A World Tour

BLACKPINK announced on Tuesday, July 5 that they will return with a new music in August -and the superstars will embark on world tour by the end of the year.

A press release from YG Entertainment announced that the group BLACKPINK is in the final stages of finishing up their newest album to be released some time this August and will carry on through a continuous large-scale project which begins in the second half of the year.

In addition, the release promised an international tour for the end of the year that would be the "biggest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group."

According to producer Yang Hyunsuk’s statement, “BlackPink has also been having a lot of recreation time every now and then to relax. So it was a bit surprising that they would have so much music saved up for their comeback. It turns out that Rosé actually wrote over 70 songs throughout their touring, concerts, and individual activities. All four members agreed on a set roster of new works and the program period steadily got filled in with a total of twenty-two tracks for their first studio album (I mean EP). The history being made this year with all of these recent events and projects definitely won’t end without BlackPink doing all they can during their one full day off each week as well."

The K-pop foursome made headlines when they released their first full length album in October 2020. Titled simply "THE ALBUM," the project became the most downloaded and streamed K-pop record since Psy's "Gentleman" in 2013, going to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart. With appearances on several high profile tracks such as "Ice Cream" featuring Selena Gomez, BLACKPINK have scored an impressive seven entries on the Billboard Hot 100 with a pair of top 40 singles: "Sour Candy" with Lady Gaga, and "How You Like That."
